Hello, not sure if anyone can help with this-one of my family was born in Cologne, North Rhine, Westphalia, Germany 28th May 1875 called Whilhemina Reeves. Her father was Henry Joseph Reeves (1845-1908) who lived in London area. My 2 x great grandparents looked after her when she was little. I have census records, marriage etc when in the UK - But I have been trying to find a birth document that gives the mothers name. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I may find this information. Many thanks

Is she the Wilhelmina living with grandparents Benjamin and Caroline Reeves in Tunbridge, Kent in 1881 :-\
ADDED What was her fathers occupation
-
1871 census - Henry & Emily Reeves lodging at New Quebec Street in Marylebone. He appears to be the son of Benjamin and Caroline Reeves (see 1881 census w/ Wilhelmina). Occupation: Groom.
Do we have marriage details for Henry and Emily? Or know why he was in Germany a few years later?
Not seeing Henry Reeves in the 1881 to 1901 census.
Is this fellow Whilhemina's brother? There's an Alfred George Reeves in the 1901 and 1921 census.
Also, the 1939 Register. Born c1873 in Cologne. Occupation: Groom (later Gardener).
He died in Market Harborough in 1954.

Thank you all for info. Whilemina married Arthur who was the son of William Reeves- William was Henry Joseph’s brother.
Henry Joseph married Emily and had children with her, I do not think Emily was Whileminas mother as Whilemina stayed with her grandparents.
I do not know why Henry was in Germany - I did think possibly military but could not find anything

Who were Henry and Emily's two children?
Also, do you have Henry (and family) in the 1881-1901 census records? Where did he die in 1908?
Any thoughts on Alfred George Reeves (also born in Cologne)?
Possibility that Henry may have been working as a coachman in Germany, particularly if his employer was living in Cologne at the time.
I'm not seeing any Overseas birth registrations in Germany for children named Reeves in the 1870s.

There are family trees on Ancestry which I believe are wrong. I don't know if you think these same children belonged to your Henry and Emily - Emily born in 1870 and Catherine/Katherine/Kate born in 1872. They were actually the children of Henry REEVES and Emily JAMESON who married in 1871 after the birth of Emily.

Mother's maiden surname: JAMESON

Henry was a general dealer and in 1871 he and the two Emilys are in Mile End Old Town. By 1881 I think Emily and Kate are at the Forest Gate District School.

It is possible that this Henry is the same one who was sentenced to 10 years for receiving stolen goods in 1878. He was also a general dealer and the same age.

Mary Ann Reeves daughter of Benjamin Reeves married George Jackson 16th April 1874. _Image on Anc*
George and Mary Ann appear in 1881 census with a Nephew Alfred George Reeves--mistranscribed as born Hilborough Norfolk

So we now have 2 Reeve children born Cologne pre 1881 living in the UK, Arthur George & Whilhemina.

I haven't been able to find them in 1911 either, but would rather find Alfred before 1891. It might be worth looking at siblings of Alfred and Emily to see if he was with one of them and might be enumerated with a different surname. The grandparents probably could not support both of them.

Found him in 1881, he is with Henry's sister Mary Ann and her husband George JACKSON in Hilborough, Norfolk. They have his place of birth as Hilborough.

Sorry, didn't see that you had added to your post. Great minds think alike ;D

Her father was Henry Joseph Reeves (1845-1908) who lived in London area.
Where are you seeing this death and residence?

In 1911 (as ERic) George Eric Reeves the son of Alfred George & Annie Cooper can be found as a visitor in the household of his mother's sister Alice Hardy nee' Cooper(1882).

Register of baptisms in Bonn, Germany
29 March 1874: Emily, Father: Henry Reeves, Mother: Emily.
Perhaps a sister?
Bonn is near Cologne, the Anglican Chaplaincy there seems to have served both Bonn and Cologne.
Registration for overseas events could certainly be patchy.

Well found jorose, whilst we have found 2 children back in the uk by 1881 there is NO evidence of parents Henry Joseph & Emily ever returning to the UK.
The poster appears a little reluctant to disclose the alleged 1908 death details.

Nice find, jorose! I reckon that, more or less, answers the OP's question regarding Whilhemina's birth.
Parents: Henry and Emily Reeves.

Sorry not responded to any of the comments I have been busy checking everthing out.
Arthur Reeves in 1891 can be found with his sister Lucy staying with his grandmother maria Skyes in little Barrington.
the death of Arthur William !908 I think is right as cannot find a 1911 census- I am awaiting further documents to fully clarify.
I do wonder if there are 2 Henry Joseph Reeves- again awaiting documents to clarify name . lots more to check out !!

Arthur William Reeves(1878) as you know married Whilhemina. They are together in 1921 census. By 1939 war register Whilhemina is a widow.
