Title: Gunner RAF
Post by: ryanharam31 on Thursday 02 May 24 18:01 BST (UK)
Hello all,

On my great uncles RAF service record, his rank is given as a Gunner.

Any ideas on what this role was/what they did?

Many thanks

Have you 'Googled 'Air Gunner RAF' - plenty of references?

If he wasnt aircrew then he may have been RAF Regiment

Gunner was not an RAF rank.

Air Gunner AG was a trade associated with rank of Sgt or above.

Ground Gunner GG was also a trade and usually associated with rank/classification ACH/AC2/AC1/LAC/Cpl/Sgt
