If anyone has access to the original records - not the transcripts - for Tonbridge I am looking for a John Calverley (Caverly?) who died c. 1768, Tonbridge. He mentions in his Will (proved 1768 but written 1766) a son John. This son had a wife called Jane now deceased. He also mentions a deceased son Matthew (d.1766) whose baptism I am interested in. Many thanks,

Thanks, I have seen this but unfortunately it doesn’t have the burial for John, nor does it have Mathew’s baptism or John’s or their marriages.

There's a March 1744 marriage for a Mathew Calverley to an Elizabeth Webber.
Location: Rochester, St Nicholas. Both were OTP. First marriage for both. It ties in with the baptisms for the children you listed.
There's a 1722 baptism in Tonbridge for a Mathew Calverley. Parents: John and Joane. Although her name could actually be "Jane" - based on two other Tonbridge baptisms (for Andrew and Edward).

FindMyPast has an image of a John Calverly's burial in Speldhurst in 1768
June 10th John Calverly Affid: made before Mr. Brett
Also one for a Jane Calverley, although much earlier, in Speldhurst in 1738
Mar 15th Jane Calverley Affid: before Mr. Elton
Also has the above mentioned baptisms.

Hi
Many thanks taking the trouble to respond. Sadly, i don’t have a sub to FindMyPast this year, hence my need to ask.
Unfortunately, I doubt this is John the son marrying as his age was given as 27, so born 1688. With the Will of the father of 1766/8, this would mean John the father would have been around 100 in 1768, if he was around 20 years old when his son was born. Conceivably it could be the father and both married Janes but it also could be a cousin. I suspect John the son married around 1740-ish.
Best wishes,
