John Kent was baptised 10.7.53 in Uttoxeter. His first marriage was in 1886 but his wife (nee Elizabeth Ann Lowndes) died in 1894 and was buried on 18.5.94 at All Saints church in Denstone. The 1911 census says that he married Louisa 16 years previously which would make the date of that 2nd marriage around 1895. She is shown as born in Great Malvern.
However, I can't find any record of their marriage, which of course I need to be sure that I have the right Louisa.
My best bet is that she was Louisa Maria Hadley, born in the village of Mathon, on the border between Herefordshire and Worcestershire on 5.11.75 and baptised at West Malvern on 3.12.75, the daughter of John and Emily Hadley.
But the second query is that I can't find any census record of her and/or her parents after her birth in 1875.
John and Louisa lived in Rugeley in 1901 but moved to Uttoxeter by 1911 and were still there in 1921. He died aged 78 in Q2 1932, but she was still living in Uttoxeter in 1939, her birth date shown as 5.11.75. I think that she is probably the Louisa M.Kent who died in the Cheadle district in 1957, aged 84.
To summarise, I am hoping someone might be able to identify
1) their marriage date
2) census details of Louisa and her family in 1881 and 1891
3) any confirmation that the death date in Cheadle is mine.
I'm posting this on the general England board because their marriage could be in Staffs or Worcs (or indeed some other county). I've searched through Familysearch, Freebmd, Freereg, wills, Ancestry and Findmypast. I guess good old Rootschat is my last hope!

Are they the ones with daughter Lily born 1895/6? Have you found her birth to check for mother’s name?

Ostensibly she is "Lillian Winifred Kent" born in 1896 in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, but I can find no birth registration.
It seems she went on to marry William Poyser, with later records providing a birth date of 13th March.
John and Louisa have also "adopted" 10-year-old George Adams by 1921, according to the census. Both of his parents are still alive.

Yes I noticed that and like you could find no birth record - so no wiser.

There is a female (no name) registered December quarter 1896 at Uttoxeter mother's maiden name Wetton.

Very belated thanks for the replies. I'm afraid the questions remain unanswered but at least I tried, and your time is much appreciated.

Thanks again. Working on the assumption that she might have been known (or at least recorded) with a different surname, I've done some more aearching but still no sign of a marriage record. So my notes re John read "He may or may not have married Louisa Maria Hadley at some time not yet found but probably around 1895."
Unless there are some marriage records squirrelled away that have not yet been transcribed to a website, it looks as if they never married. One of those brick walls, I'm afraid, but again many thanks for the interest.

The above address is the same as 1921 census posted by Cas re Louisa Maria Harris. This address in 1939 war register has Emily Harris 1853, Rose E Harris 1884--mother and sister to Louisa.
Below death of Louisa Maria Harris.
Are Louisa Maria Harris and Louisa Kent the same lady as they appear in 2 1921 census? Answers on a postcard ;D
Louisa Maria Hadley/Harris was born 21st November 1875-parents John & Emily--so seemingly not Louisa Kent in 1939 dob 5.11.1875

Wow - that took a lot of work to sort out the wheat from the chaff! I think the conclusion is that Louisa Mary Harris is a red herring, albeit understandably coincidental. It still seems that L M Hadley and John Kent never actually tied the knot in a formal sense. The new aspect to me is that Lilian Winifred was also adopted some time before 1901. So my records have now been updated to that effect.
Many thanks to all.

You need to read over the thread again. Louisa HARRIS and Louisa HADLEY are the same person.
