Title: Identify a trade/occupation. Mid 1880s?

Photo found in old inherited album. Back shows sent to Miss Beatrice Potts, but then message and name of sender has been scratched away.  Beatrice lived in the Elswick area of Newcastle upon Tyne, she died aged 18 in 1886.  So I have always thought maybe sent by a love interest that maybe went sour, but in that case why not just destroy the photo.   Only thing is maybe some member of the family is also shown.   If anyone can suggest what the trade /occupation of the group is, that may help clarify matters.

Their aprons seem a bit clean for butchers. Could they be flour millers?

They look like traditional joiners aprons except they should have big front pockets and I can't tell if they have. Note that all the men at the front are wearing clogs except the one in the bowler hat.
