Hello! I’m just wondering if anyone is going to the Mitchell Library soon and could look up something for me? I have written, but my response from them is that they are too busy and offered a research assistant for a very large fee that I cannot afford. I live in the US so there’s no way of me visiting in person. I am looking for an application or record from Barnhill Poorhouse for my 3X Great Grandmother Elizabeth Gilchrist, maiden name Finney.
I have found her death record that she died at Barnhill Poorhouse on April 2nd 1876 due to “Debility” when she was 36 years old. I am trying to find out when she was admitted there and for what reason if that is possible.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance!!

Morning
I will be back in Glasgow next week, so can pop in to the Michell and see what I can find out for you. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much!

I was in the City Archives department at the Mitchell Library last week, they are extremely short-staffed and, if you know the details of your search it is always best to email them in advance and book a place. I think, at the moment, they are only open Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday.

I got caught out with that the last time I went, didn't know they had changed the system. So this time already booked. Thanks for reminder.
