Hi this is from 1841 England Census for Newchurch, Isle of Wight,
Peice 406, book 5, folio 21 Page 7.
I cant figure out the occupation. Im seeing "Inde" independant?? not really making sence to me.. there are a few repeated on the page..
Anyone else have any thoughts
TIA

"Ind" (I think it's just a flourish at the end) is used in 1841 for those of independent means. Since she's only 23 years old, that could suggest she's from a wealthy family.

Thanks, I did as I said think it could be that.. but I did check again.. Her father is listed on Census as an Ag Labourer. throughout his life.. and a pauper in 1851..
So im thinking this is not the same person as I'm looking for.. back to the census returns me thinks..
Thanks

I wouldn't rule it out - who is it you are looking for?
