I would love to look at the ER for Wirral for about 1960. Think that was Cheshire then, not Merseyside.
Does anyone know where I could see them? Chester Archive?
Alternatively I would like to see a Kelly's or similar Directory for around that time. Chester Archive, maybe?
Ideally it would be good to search online but so far I haven't found any digitised copies.
Thanks,
Pam

To search ER’s for that period you need to know the address at which they were living

Yes I have the address in 1961, but don't know where I can find the ERs.
Want to see if they stayed there into the 1960s or moved away; and how long they had been there.

You could try Cheshire records office to see if they hold ER’s for the area & dates you are looking for? If not - they would probably be able to tell you if they are available elsewhere

Try Birkenhead Central Library on Borough Road. I looked at a load there; I think (I’m currently away) from the 1930’s.

Thanks for that. I have actually booked in at the Chester Archives where they hold the years I want, so am hopeful I can find what I'm looking for. My local library had nothing and Chester is almost as close as Birkenhead. But I will certainly remember that for the next time.
Thanks, Pam

Went to Chester Archives and they were so helpful, getting various Electoral Roll books out for us and sorting out large scale maps. Great venue, just off the main streets.
Going to try Birkenhead Library next time and see whether they have anything else, and if the parking is easier.

The library doesn’t have a car park but, the last time I went, I used the one on the opposite side of Borough Road a short walk away on Turner Street. Come to think of it, I’m sure I had some rellies who lived on a previous incarnation of Turner Street!
