The Destination of Report on the attached POW Index Card. Is to Mrs F.M.Webb, in Sydney Australia a person that I can't identify as a relation. Joseph was released 2.9.1945 & after that I can't find a trace of him. If he made it home to Dovercourt,Essex, England there is no record. Any ideas?
-
The Card I tried to post is Crown Copyright so it wouldn't appear. J.W.Webb born 30 April 1911 Dovercourt, Essex, England to George Wm Webb 1885- 1927 & Elsie Annie née Labrum 1890-1971.Joseph was a Staff Sergeanr Royal Army Medical Corps No. 7260909. Taken prisoner 25.12.1941, I don't know where. Released from P.O.W Camp at Nagoya 2.9.1945. On his Japanese Index Card it states Destination of Report Mrs F.M.Webb 65 New South Head Road, Vaucluse, Sydney, Australia. She is unknown to me.

Mrs F M Webb was Florence Maud Webb per the 1943 electoral register
-
Have you been able to translate the Japanese text on the reverse of the POW card? I doubt if this will relate to the Mrs Webb mystery, but it may provide additional information about him. One other bit of information about him is that he was captured in Hong Kong. Some of the civilans who escaped from Hong Kong before the Japanese invaded were evacuated to Australia.

It would seem that Florence was wife to William Thomas Webb who served in the AIF in WW2 - perhaps that's where they met - or was your man a relative? Will dig a bit further!

Funeral Notices for William Thomas WEBB (father of Florence's husband)
I thought I'd mention the names of his family in case there should be some familiar names to the family of Joseph William) but I don't think they're any help!
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/238798783?searchTerm=william%20webb
From newspaper Daily Telegraph, June 3 1914
WEBB.— The Friends of Mrs. WILLIAM THOMAS WEBB are kindly invited to attend the Funeral of
her beloved husband; to leave the residence, ''Marathon," Waverley St., Waverley, THIS DAY' (WEDNESDAY), at 2.15 p.m., for Waverley Cemetery.
There are other funeral notices from:
Frances Webb, George and Albert Webb - WTW was their son and brother
Mr and Mrs J Woodham - WTW was their friend
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas STEEL, Sen., and GERTIE and GLADYS Steel - WTW was their son-in-law and brother-in-law
Mr. Thomas STEEL, Jun., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Steel, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Steel, Mr and Mrs Percy
CUNNEEN, and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. HAMMOND - WTW was their brother and brother-in-law.
Also a notice from Masonic Lodge, Ivanhoe
None of this is any help as Steel was Frances' maiden name and all these names seem to be from the Steel family.
There is also a Death Notice in the same edition of that newspaper which also doesn't help.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/238798713
WEBB.— June 1st, 1914, at a Private Hospital. Sydney, William Thomas, dearly loved husband of Ruby Webb, of "Marathon," Waverley St., Waverley, aged 31 years.
