i have not much to go on and i am hoping that someone can help.
i am researching my great great Uncle Thomas Davies, born Herefordshire 1861. His parents were Thomas Davies born 1841Tupsley, Herefordshire. mother Martha Davies. His brother my great great grandfather was James Williams born circa 1835 and his wife was Jane Morris
i have Thomas Davies on the 1881 census living with his Uncle James at Pwlldu, Blaenafon. After that I lose Thomas (born 1861).
i have been told that he went to South Africa, no knowledge of his wife but he had a daughter called Rose Davies.
We believe he might have sailed on a ship named St Helena but that is only family verbal history.
Hope someone can help
Best

Hi Ken
I have a James Davies in my family, born in Shropshire in 1877. He ended up in SA also. He went to SA as he was involved in the Boar War. James ended up staying after the war to work on the railways.
Good luck with your search.
