Title: Elizabeth Eaton - baptism and parents help
Post by: hmserge on Friday 01 March 24 14:57 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I’m trying to find the baptism and then hopefully the parents for an Elizabeth Eaton born around 1761 Wyverstone, Suffolk.
She married Thomas Youngman on the 29th January 1783 at Wyverstone.  I think Thomas was born in Wattisfield.
Their daughter Eliza was born in 1799 in Haughley.
Not sure if all these small villages were close and maybe they moved around  ???
Any help would be amazing.  Thank you

Wyverstone, Suffolk [52.269415,0.983662] is 3 miles (5 Km) N of Haughley, Suffolk [52.225243,0.960702].

This is measured directly between the two points 'as the crow flies' ignoring any geographical features such as rivers or hills.

This was calculated using the Gazetteer link from the page for Haughley on Genuki. These pages also give you a map of the parish.

Taken from Wyverstone Parish Register

Thomas Youngman of the parish of Bricet* singleman
Elizabeth Eaton of this parish spinster
Married in this church by banns 29th January 1783
Both marked X
In the presence of George Smyth and George Baker

Anne

*I struggled to read the parish (such an important piece of information  ???) but the man working in the records office kindly took a copy of the entry and enlarged it so that we could read it better and it definitely looks like Bricett with one t.  I brought the printout home with me, if you'd like it maybe you could PM me and I'll send it to you.

I looked at Gt Bricett banns to see if they held any clues but the entries in the banns register jumped from 1775 to 1802  >:(

Hi and thank you for replying and an even bigger thank you for searching for me at the records office.  This is so kind of you.
I’ve never heard of Bricet.  I’ve just had a look on google earth and there’s a Great Bricett.
There’s a lot of new names here which is really nice and helpful.
Oh that would be lovely and something for me to keep, thank you so much 🙏🏼
