Edward Graham Mortimer was married (for 2nd time) in NSW Australia I think in 1946. I believe there is a record in Myheritage at least. I'm after his wife's maiden name and place. She Leslie irene xxxxx.

According to a tree on Ancestry her surname was Caldwell.
And in 1947, she married Gerald Desmond Mortimer (Edward's brother).
The birth registration of their child in 1948 confirms her maiden name as Caldwell.
I did not find a marriage for her to Edward. Perhaps he was not divorced from his first wife?

thank you folks. strange that my Myhertitage search (free) came up with:
Edward Graham Mortimer
Australia, New South Wales Marriage Index, 1788-1966
• Marriage1946 - which I was trying to track down.
it was his second marriage and he was divorced (divorce covered in local paper).
The interesting part of all this is that his bride (Leslie) was amoungst 550 Aussie brides shipped back on an aircraft carrier (!) arriving UK Aug 46. But she got radiogram en route saying he died......

The NSW marriage index is free to search. Good luck finding a marriage.

You will find her birth registered in 1922.

An engagement was announced in the paper on 29 Nov 1945. He was named as Graham Mortimer.

8 months later he was dead. Perhaps they had planned to marry in England?
Does his army service record give the date of his marriage?
Have you looked for the marriage in British Overseas Marriage record?
