The church is/was located on Ile-de-Montreal, Quebec, which is an island in the St Lawrence River. Verdun is an area located in the SE of the island: you should be able to find it with whatever your favourite mapping app is.
The only Presbyterian Church that I can see on the modern map is on Rue d’Eglise, and is called Montreal Chinese Presbyterian Church.
Added: it also seems to be called The United Church of Canada. This is the church at the jnctn of Rue d’Eglise and Rue Ross. Looking at street view, it has a plaque dated 1922, which doesn’t match the date of the wedding.

If I have read the original query corrctly, I think the OP is looking for info about the church itself? Perhaps the heading could have reflected that a bit better.

Thank you all very much for your help,I wanted to contact this church to see if the brother of Christie,my great grandad Alexander Stewart was a witness or best man,or was later laid to rest there, still struggling to find him, kind regards Dean

Hi Dean,
The witnesses are listed on the copy of the marriage. Sadly Alexander wasn't listed.
Have you got any details on Alexander, willing to take another look for you. Need the practice on the Canada board. :)
Will have a read thru the previous thread

Hello Sandra,I believe Alexander was born in December 1895,he was married to Margaret Gray in Ireland,I think he went to Montreal in 1926,where he died, unfortunately I only know that he died in the 1940s or early 50s,I think he was a railway layman in Montreal, possibly in the RCMP,but struggling to find evidence of this,I also think he had another older brother in Montreal called Joseph, who was a gardener, thank you so much for your help sandra
-
Yes sandra, that is Alexander and his family
-
Did Margaret travel to Canada ? Did he have children in Canada ?
Might be difficult finding the death record in the 1940's 1950's but someone may find a newspaper cutting if there was one.
Haven't come across a positive identification in newspapers. Some are not giving family details, just announcing the death.
Sandra
Added Looks likw we checked a few deaths oin this thread. Youir Alexander is certainly elusive :-\

Looking at Joseph….
We know we should be careful with trees on ancestry but having said that there is a tree related to this family that indicates Jane Steel married a widowed William in 1892. They have Christy’s half siblings having mother Elizabeth Kelly. I don’t if the Irish records would cover this time period for corroboration?
There is a marriage in Montreal in 1914 for a Joseph Stewart with parents William Stewart and Eliza Kelly to a Euphemia Ferguson. Perhaps Sandra might put the record up for you?
What appears to be the arrival of Christy indicates he is going to his brother so perhaps this Joseph is the brother?
Anyway, food for thought.
PB
Added….the marriage record on the tree for Jane Steel has a residence related to Culmore which if I remember correctly is the location for the mother of the Alexander Stewart on the passenger list posted earlier by Sandra.
-
No sandra,I do not believe Alexander had children in Canada, his wife Margaret stayed behind in Belfast and never visited Canada,he had a child in Belfast,my grandad Terence leo Stewart in 1924,I tried to find out more about Joseph as I believe Alexander went to meet him in Montreal.
-
Was it Joseph or was it John.
The 1901 shows a John Stewart born 1889 but I couldn't see a Joseph ?
Sandra
Birth Redg was 1888
John Stewart
Birth Quarter Oct-Nov-Dec - Birth Date 1888 - Birth Place Londonderry, Ireland
Birth Registration Date Dec 1888
Volume 2 Page 171
-
The tree I mentioned just above has a Joseph born 1882 and John born 1888.
The Joseph who married Euphemia (Effie) died in Montreal in 1974. His death notice is in the Montreal Gazette but doesn’t appear to mention any brothers.

Silly me - forgot - Census for 1881 and 1891 were pulped during the First World War. :-\
Sure polarbear didn't mind me sending you the obit for Joseph and find a grave link for your records.
The obit for Herbert William Joseph Stewart was on the same link I gave you but did you know Flight Lieutenant Stewart given the D F C. (I will include it in case you haven't got it. I know you like to collect all the newspaper clippings if you can :)

Thank you very much sandra,it was very interesting to click on the first census,it saying that they lived in Mont royal,I believe there is a huge cemetery here,I looked at 3 graves with the name Alexander Stewart here, who died around the 1940s or 50s,unfortunately they all had death dates but not birth dates,I did try contacting this cemetery about birth dates and birth locations, unfortunately never heard back from them, very interesting though, thank you Sandra

I tried to match the Alexander burial/death dates to newspapers for clues. Some of which we could discount.
We have no idea if he might have married again without a divorce - amazing how many did !!
FIND A GRAVE Maybe discount this one.
died 1 June 1957 - Alexander Stewart

might be this one.......

There was this one who died aged 66 years in 1958 - aged 66 years - which wouldn't quite match up age wise. This chap was a retired CNR police inspector.

Looked at some later deaths as well.............
