Hi,
Am trying to gather more details etc on my 2x great-grandmother, Mary Ann Lloyd (nee Davies). Have got the name correct as she appears on my great-grandmother birth certificate as well as some census records which suggests she was born around 1859 in Llanelly. When I try looking her up on freebmd, there seems to be a few Mary Ann Davies' born 1859 in Llanelly. Don't know if this would be double entries or there happened to be several Mary Ann Davies born at the same time in the same area.
I'm also struggling to find any marriage certificates (she married Ezekiel Lloyd) or death certificates for her.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have you managed to trace where Ezekiel was living in 1881. I see that their first child was Bertha who was born in Beaufort, Breconshire in December qtr 1883.

Answered my own question Ezekiel was in Bedwelty, Monmouthshire in 1881 and in 1871 with his parents Ezekiel & Livia in Howey

Thanks for the info, Bertha would be my great-grandmother. Have found the 1881 census for Ezekiel. I do have a marriage certificate hint that comes up for him in 1882 in Bedwelty but it's with a different woman.

I think you may need the marriage certificate for information on Mary Anns father to be able to go further back

1861 has a Mary A Davies born Llanelly, Breconshire with parents Thomas & Mary living at Maesgwartha, I suspect that she is your Mary Ann. That place of birth has come up on census for her :)

She is not with her parents in 1871

Thanks Rosie for all the info/help. Had her birth as 1859 based on her age in various census records. With the other records, it looks like it's come down to how I was spelling the names on freeBMD vs. the slightly different spellings on there. Have ordered the marriage & death certificates.

Hi Rosie,
Looks like you're correct in that her parents are Thomas & Mary. Received her marriage certificate today which confirmed her father as a Thomas. When I search for her birth on freeBMD (in 1859 in Llanelly), I get two entries for a Mary Ann Davies, one being born in September & another in December. Think it'll be a matter of ordering both certificates & seeing which one has Thomas & Mary on the certificate?

What occupation is given for her father on the marriage cert? Does it match the Thomas on the 1861 census given above?
The Mary Ann noted on that census is enumerated as 2, so should have been born before 3r or 4th quarter in 1859. She may have been born after April of 1858.
There is a younger child on the 1861, Elizabeth age 2 months. There is only one Elizabeth Davies registered in Crickhowell in march qtr 1861 - vol 11b pg 142 mmn Marker.
Possible birth reg
Mary Ann Davies sept qtr 1858 Crickhowell vol 11b pg 120 mmn Marker
also
Thomas Davies sept qtr 1856 Crickhowell vol 11b pg 128 mmn Marker
parish marriage 4 July 1852 parish church of Llanelly
Thomas Davies 37 widower refiner Llanelly father William Davies ? agent
Mary Marker 25 widow Llanelly father David Evans gamekeeper
Which could explain birth reg of Rosana from 1871 census
Rosina Davies dec q tr 1864 Crickhowell vol 11b pg 129 mmn Evans

Can't seem to attach Mary Ann's marriage certificate but the job description for her father, Thomas, does look like refiner. What would a refiner be?

Possibly working in the ironworks. :-\
