I am looking for a marriage in 1940 in Minera. It isn't in the parish records for the village and so I am wondering if it took place in a chapel. Which chapels were operating in 1940 and what happened to their records? NB I have sent for the certificate but would like to locate the chapel record too.

Look for it on this site. It usually says what Church it was or if it was Civil. It won't say which Chapel.
My parents married in a Chapel and it's on here as a Civil..
The marriage certificate should say where it took place.
Chapel records are not easy to find.

GENUKI will give you information on Minera Churches and Chapels.

Hi Wilcoxon,
Thank you very much for the suggestion of the North Wales BMD. I found the marriage straightaway and the church was named. They are the parents of my cousin who had no idea where they were married. I feel a trip coming on in the near future.

Glad to have helped. It is a useful site. :)

I have now been able to establish the address of the bride at this wedding, but I can't find it using a simple Google search. The handwriting on the marriage register entry makes it look like "2 Cae Hovah, Wern" and I believe this is/was in Minera, Wrexham. Would anybody out there know how I might locate this property, please?

Have you checked her in 1939 register, or her father.
Wern is outside Minera.

Postcode finder gives it as a valid address and a link to a map, but I cannot pin it down any closer.

Stryt y scewiar is showing on here. Can't find Cae Hovah.
It was also Cae Hofa .
North Wales Archives has some info as Cae Hofa.

Thank you for your replies.
1) I'm fairly certain that she was in Shrewsbury in 1939, but I'll check that out.
2) I looked at postcode finder and it took me to a cottage that could well be the place, and I'll check this out too.
3) This is the address I found: Cae Hovah, Wern, Bersham, WREXHAM, LL14 4LU.
More tasks to be done tomorrow now.

At the time of the 1939 census the family hadn't yet moved to Cae Hofah. I know here they were and it's now the property that I'd like to locate, but thank you again for looking.

Same area but Cae Hovah still not showing.

Thank you for the map. I'll give it a good looking at in the morning and see if I can compare it to what I found through the postcode/address finder.

The burial ground is the remains of the Wern Chapel.
