Title: Alexander Douglas
Post by: RICHIE on Tuesday 30 January 24 20:36 GMT (UK)
Being at the point in my research when I'm hitting many brick walls one brick wall which I would love to solve involves Alexander Douglas . Alexander was born circa 1756 but I have no idea where. I do know that he was married in Carlisle Cathedral Dec 14th 1782 to Elizabeth McKay/ McKie. He died in Wigton Aug 8th 1824. His Daughter Elizabeth married John Askins in Wigton April 8th 1815. Thanks in advance for any help.

His first son was named John so possibly his fathers name.

There is also a John Douglas who married Jane Teleford 1786 baptising children at the same time/same area.

Also James Douglas who married Mary ? had two children in the 1780's - same area.

Are they related.

Have you found any wills for the family?

–DEATHS–
At Wigton, on Friday week, aged 68, Mr. Alexander Douglas. He was in the act of eating his dinner, when he fell back and instantly expired.

I think this must mean Friday August 6th. Is your date of the 8th a burial perhaps?
