Can anyone suggest a time period for this photo please? I don't know who any of the people are, and a date might help.
Thanks in advance

My guess would be early 1930s. Would that fit anyone?? :)

I think 1930s too, possibly later 1930s. Internet searches show similar styles of wedding attire from the 30s.
I originally thought 40s because it doesn’t look like the typical 30s women’s clothing, but 40s didn’t seem quite right either.
I hope you can work out who they are Mike. :)
Added: further image checking shows some 40s weddings which look similar as well. Though only the lapels are showing, the women’s coats back left in your photo have a 40s look to them.

Thank you both. That gives me something to work with.
Apart from the groom having a look of Shane MacGowan, it's a mystery so far.

My guess would be 1940s, most likely after the war as there are a few men attending.

I have a photo of my aunt in June 1938, at age 8, wearing a remarkably similar bridesmaid dress to the young girl on the left hand side.
-
It reminds me of a photo of an uncle's wedding in 1942. He was in the army but was wearing civvies. Also one just post WW2 of a cousin's wedding which has many bridesmaids and family.
-
I would say 40s, maybe just post war? No military uniforms.
-
my feeling is circa 1947 ish!

MyHeritage can date old photographs and so far I have been astonished at its accuracy. Just upload your photo and it gives a date immediately. No paid membership required.

My Heritage has given it a date of 1938.
add - but I noticed that they'd given a date of 1938 to my grandmother and her friend when we know it was 1942.

I went to a wedding in the fifties where people looked like this. My partners parents also had someone attend in Scotland wearing a blue frock coat in the late forties. Isn't it a bit far fetched trying to auto-date photos on clothing when these little chaps got in the way...
-
Many saved their coupons and relatives donated theirs. I've seen many photos of weddings in this period where the clothing was fine. At times the silk from parachutes was used for dresses.
-
Sorry gadget, I wasn't casting nasturtiums on your personal skills, I was talking about auto-dating photos.

Thanks for trying that. The consensus does seem to be around 1940s, so I can use that as a starting point. I'm beginning to think it doesn't show any of my family - perhaps it was a friend's wedding.
