Hello all - I'm researching my family and have been looking at Robert Wilkinson Boyes born abt 1857. I've downloaded his death certificate (see attached) and I am struggling with some of the causes of death. I believe it is chronic something then possibly pericarditis and finally syncope (fainting) If anyone has any knowledge of what the illness might have been I would be very grateful.

chronic nephritis 1½ years
pericarditis 21 days
syncope

Whilst researching a friends tree I came across syncope as a cause of death. It turned out that the syncope was a symptom of a rare cardiac disease that affects the heart rate.
-
Nephritis - Inflammation of the kidneys
Pericarditis - Inflammation of the lining around the heart
Syncope - Fainting

Agree with Zefiro's analysis of the causes of death :)
