Have found this marriage at Shepshed and licence 1723

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01svc/

John Hammond age 33 batchelor, grocer living in Barton Up Wolds
Ann Hartshorn age 26 single, living in Long Whatton

or this ref. as 'Burton Supr Wolds'  :D

Not sure of the initials before Hammond but it includes the mark of Jn Hartshorn

Looking at various refs, there's a John Hammond buried at Prestwold 1728, grazier of Burton, there's admin for him 1729 and his widow is Ann.

An Ann Hammond of Burton upon the Woulds leaves a will in 1734, she only makes provision for one son who is to be looked after by her brother Thomas Hammond until John is 21.
She also names her sisters Elizabeth ?Hartson and Isabella Hammond

I think my Hammond(s) family may be connected to this family. My 2xgt grandfather John Hammonds was born in North Kilworth c1798 son of John and Elizabeth(Bale). My 3xgt grandfather, John, died in North Kilworth in 1844 age 78 but was not born there, as far as I can see and the closest match I could find to his birth is a baptism at All Saints Loughborough 1st Feb 1766, to John and Sarah. I think he had a sister Ann baptised there in 1767.
I found a marriage of a John (Possibly my 4x Gt grandfather) , born c1744 to Sarah Smith in 1764 in Prestwold, daughter of George Smith, but I have never been certain these are the right family and therefore have struggled to go back further. The surname seems to have been common in the Walton on Wolds, Prestwold and Loughborough area.
