Hi Chatters, :)
I'm looking for help locating an ordinance map (or similar b&w image) for Tyrie Parish that shows New Pitsligo, Balnamoon Croft and Balnamoon manor house / farm. The time frame that I'm seeking is anything between 1860 and 1915. The map needs to be downloadable with reasonable resolution.
I've located ordinance maps on the National Library of Scotland site, but can't seem to narrow any of them to the specific geography I'm seeking.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for old black & white maps that show what I'm looking for, please?

Do you think Balnamoon Croft should be the same as this Balnamoon Croft?

In which case, I have looked using the side by side feature on NLS maps, and there is no Croft marked.
Both ordnance maps that come up on NLS show the area of Balnamoon (east of new pitsligo) but I see no properties given the Balnamoon name. Although there is a property that does look as if it is probably the farm (where it says Well at the end of the word Balnamoon.

As I understand it, although I am willing to be corrected, if it isn’t on NLS then there is no other map. Unless someone hand drew one at some point.
Added….going by this modern map, I think I have it right

I think you mean Ordnance Survey: ordinance has several meanings, but none of them to do with maps.

Thank you HughC for the schooling regarding Ordinance Surveys (as opposed to maps.) :)
Thank you mckha489 for your lookups. You are likely right that the 3 sites I want were not mapped on the same document. There is an 1861 Ordinance showing where the manor house was. There were quite a few crofts on the very large Balnamoon property as well.
I have been able to create an image so I have context in the absence of an old map.
I appreciate that you weighed in with your thoughtful insight.

Red mystic…you can view the ordnance maps as a “seamless overlay “. You would have to then screenshot to get the bit you want, but then you would have New Pitsligo in the image as well

(And you can use the slider at the top to change the transparency which is interesting)

Oh wow! :D Thank you for that. What a great feature & I appreciate your direction on how to use it.

You can also view a larger scale, but the name is still not attached to a property.
Select map/map series: 25 inch
(Strictly this is 1:2500, which engineers refer to more correctly as 25 hundred.)
The Ordnance Survey was originally within the Army, under the Royal Board of Ordnance, i.e. heavy guns and ammunition. Its HQ was in the Tower of London.

Here is a link to the (1865-71) Ordnance Survey Name Book for Tyrie open at Balnamoon.
https://scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-books/aberdeenshire-os-name-books-1865-1871/aberdeenshire-volume-90/65
Balnamoon is a common place name in Scotland as it means a township on a moss.

Thanks Malky. I don't see a map there, but what an interesting site. :) Thanks for sharing it.

Have a look at https://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NJ8955
And as already pointed out the maps are Ordnance Survey maps, produced by the Ordnance Survey, the UK's official mapping agency which started out as an offshoot of the Army.
Not Ordinance.

That's not Balnamoon in the parish of Tyrie. It's a different Balnamoon altogether, in the parish of Menmuir, county of Angus.

Thanks for the link and the follow-up amendment Forfarian.

Roy's military map (1750-ish) https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=14.2&lat=57.60667&lon=-2.17618&layers=3&b=1&o=100&marker=57.58491,-2.18562 shows Balnamoon as Benemeen.
First edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.6&lat=57.59346&lon=-2.17079&layers=257&b=1&o=100&marker=57.58491,-2.18562
shows Balnamoon as an area of several small fields just east of New Pitsligo.
Second edition https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.1&lat=57.59377&lon=-2.18184&layers=6s&b=1&o=100&marker=57.58491,-2.18562 looks very similar.
As does the second edition of the 25-inch OS map https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.1&lat=57.59368&lon=-2.17825&layers=168s&b=1&o=100&marker=57.58491,-2.18562

Thank you very much Forfarian. These look encouraging.
How interesting that Balnamoon was also recorded as Benemeen.
Your direction is greatly appreciated.
