From the 1555 will of John Kent of Burghfield, Berkshire.
I'm having trouble with the last name of his daughter Jone.
Possibly some variant of Hildesley.
-
Looks to me like - Jone ludlow.
Or could be Jane? Or lodlow? A few more lines of the will would help, for letter comparison.
-
I think it's an o, but his o's a's and e's are a bit non-standard. I'll get together a few more lines shortly for comparison.
Thanks

Here's a more extensive sample of his hand.

Thanks for posting more.
Comparing the vowels in this larger extract, I think the name is written Jone lodlow. If running searches, you would in any case probably want to try both ludlow and lodlow (and lodlo, lodloe etc.).

Yes, I can see that interpretation. Checking, I see there are a number of Ludlow families in that parish, so I think you are right. Of course looking for something like Hildesley, that's what I then saw! Thanks for putting me straight!
