My Great Grandad Joseph Corkish owned the Manx Hotel at 63 Mount Pleasant Street and another named the Liverpool Hotel nearby in the 30's and 40's.
He died in 1947 and his daughter Mary got the hotels to our knowledge.
The Manx has been demolished but just wondered if anyone had any photos or details regarding its ownership, or guests etc..
Any info or pointers for my research would be greatly appreciated.
Rob.

Thankyou Heywood, i received the will lastnight and it revealed that his hotel was named the Snaefell Hotel which it seems was located at Mount Pleasant Street.

Glad to hear.
Is it solved now?
Did Mary marry James Bradley?
1938/39 Electoral registers show Joseph Corkish at 63 Mount Pleasant.
James and Mary Bradley are at 89, Mount Pleasant.
There were no registers during the war.
1945 shows Joseph but the Bradleys are not at 89.
1948, after Joseph’s death - different people at 63.

Mary did marry James Bradley yes.. and yes thanks to your guidance im happy to call it solved.

:) That’s good.

Newspaper reports in 1930 and 1931 describe Joseph Corkish of 63 Mount Pleasant as a "master window cleaner".
The 1938 Kellys directory lists the address as "temperance hotel"
-
Corkish is a Manx surname ;)

He is in Liverpool in 1911 but before that, Isle of Man - born abt 1877, Ramsay.
