Hi I am trying to find out about the Channon family in Honiton who ran the flour mill on Mill Street in about 1840. I have some names but no dates to tie down which part of the family I am looking at. I know that the father was James Channon who ran the mill but had died before 1840. He left it to his son, also called James Channon and James junior had a sister called Ann or Anna.
That is literally all i know and I can't place them in history. i have taken some guesses but am not sure.
Any local help would be great
Thanks
Alison

All I can find is that the mill was bought by a John Channon in 1782 when it became known as Channon's Mill.

There is some information on the Mill online, various google sites, which indicate James Channon took over the mill in 1792. I wonder if this is the family on family search>

Thank you! This is the toe hold I needed to establish the details. I came across the family in a will in Topsham where they were named but no details were given about them so this is perfect, thanks

Hi, sorry I'm rather late on this thread, but I wondered if there was any more information.
My family are 'Channon's' from Honiton, but my Ancestor is Nicholas Channon, the Smith that lived on Queen Street. He was born in Axminster in 1773. His son John (bap.11 Apr 1808) and John's son Sidney (bap. 5 Jan 1842) also lived on Queen Street, Honiton in the 1840's - 1850's. So I wondered if they were related to the Flour Mill Channon's.
I know that Nicholas's father was Thomas Channon (bap. 17 Nov 1735, Honiton) and that Thomas's father was John Channon (b.17 Jan 1714, in Dorset?).
