Title: Henry Pyne East India Merchant Calcutta 1790's
Post by: Jeremy Pyne on Sunday 12 November 23 14:01 GMT (UK)
I know that one Henry Pyne was operating as an East India Merchant  in Calcutta in the 1780's, ref for example to importation of drinks etc. Quite soon after there are individuals with Indian first names  like Bhogbut Pyne and son Ranchund operating eg at the New China Bazar around 1810/14. Interested to know whether these might be Anglo/Irish/Indian descendants of Henry. There are still Pyne families in around Kolkata today that may all be linked

If you search the fibis database, even for "exact match" of PYNE, you will find very many matches. Not all will be related to Henry PYNE, it is a fairly common name.
