I know that one Henry Pyne was operating as an East India Merchant in Calcutta in the 1780's, ref for example to importation of drinks etc. Quite soon after there are individuals with Indian first names like Bhogbut Pyne and son Ranchund operating eg at the New China Bazar around 1810/14. Interested to know whether these might be Anglo/Irish/Indian descendants of Henry. There are still Pyne families in around Kolkata today that may all be linked

Might be related to a pine coffin family and a general cofffn whose daughter louisa married a short who owned a coffee plantation
