Image source Illustrated Chronicle on Flickr which states this image has no copyright restriction and is in the public domain
I realise this is quite a small image and if its not possible to make it less 'dotty' then I'd rather not waste anyone's time, but Granda always told me that shy bairns get nowt so I thought it was worth asking.
Though the newspaper got his middle initial wrong, this is definitely Thomas Nicholson Jobling, and I do have an earlier image of him with his family that many of you kind folk helped me with a couple of years ago

but I'd like to keep this image in our records too.
thanks

Thank Peter, as ever you get points for the try and you accurately kicked for the conversion :-)
He was in the N.C.B (Northern Cyclist Battalion), though the image does resemble an O rather than a C, but even I can sort that if I have your permisson to alter that on your image?

God, and Boo, loves a trier (just ask Peter!)
Thank you RJ137, I appreciate you taking the time to use your skills for my benefit:-).
I always save any and all images that people produce along with the original and note who did them, may I have your permission to alter the N.O.B. to N.C.B ? - I'm a numpty at this stuff but can manage text!

Thank you japeflakes, I am addicted to this board and look in wonder at just about all the restores but am especially pleased when people are kind enough to take the time to help when I post.

and and even later thank you from me :-(
Apologies John, I did see this and 'thought' I'd replied to thank you for your version.

As its a dire scan from an old newspaper I didn't really expect anyone to produce any improvement, so thank you jmagarac.
I'm constantly amazed at what the folk in here are so willing/able to do and appreciate it very much.

Looking at again smaller... I wish I could've gotten more of that dot out.

Really kind of you to keep going with this and its much appreciated.
Probably my fault jmagarac given that its from a newspaper maybe the screen shot I took was way too big so the dots were more noticeable and subsequently more difficult to get rid of.
You have to bear in mind that as far as this stuff goes, next door's pet rabbit has more idea than I do.
I see hints about things such as file size/resolution and just do the press buttons till I get what I 'think' the clever folk may need :-)
