There is a marriage of a Thomas Prendergast, carpenter, age 34,  to a Mary Tobin, age 24, in Clonmel, 1908. Cannot find any other marriages that match.

I am not sure that is the right couple for Patrick’s parents.

Thomas Pender is a labourer on Patrick’s birth.
Patrick marries as Penders with father Thomas, a labourer.

The Prendergast/Tobin marriage shows Thomas a Carpenter.
There is a birth 1915 John Prendergast, Clonmel with father Thomas, a Carpenter.
 Also, William, 1919.

1911 for the Prendergasts

The census fits with the birth of your Patrick though. Do you know if he had siblings?

David Prendergast married Margaret Power, 1873, Clonmel. Father named as Patrick.

Perhaps David is a brother to Thomas - all family names.

I have been comparing names and I came across one record (can’t remember now but a BMD and the name Prendergast was written Prender t.
I also knew someone who was Pendergast but often referred to as Prendergast.
Wikipedia shows that they are all variations.

It just seems a bit odd to me that Patrick seems to be the only one registered as Pender which he then uses in his marriage but I can see that it is possible.
