Title: Deciphering 16th Century Parish Register
Post by: RJMortimer on Wednesday 11 October 23 11:46 BST (UK)
Hi all,

I'd really appreciate some help deciphering the first entry in the image attached. I really struggle reading this old form of writing.

Many thanks,
Ryan

In the margin it says Julye (= July) and gives the dates of the two baptisms in Arabic numerals (your one is 16).

Ann ye d[aughter] of Ric[hard] Holmes in
ye p[ar]ish of Coton* bapt[ized] ye xvi
day

* I don't know which parish this register is from. The name of the parish might be abbreviated.
