Hi All,
I have the marriage of a Alexander Ernest Sandell to a Jane Ledsom. 28th October 1903 in Birkenhead. On the 1911 census Alexander states he was born in Adelaide Australia. On the marriage certificate Alexander's fathers name is George Septemus Sandell, could anyone please help with any information about George, his wife or any siblings to Alexander.
Thanks in advance

The name Septimus is a clue that I have seen before - seventh son.... so there will in all likelihood be loads of siblings......
-
Is an occupation for GSS given on the marriage certificate?
-
Hi,
Thank you for your question, George Septemus Sandell is a Ships Carpenter and Alexander is a mariner.

According to that, Alexander Ernest Sandell was born at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The source for Peterhead seems to be his medal card (National Archives: BT 351/1/124615).

On the Liverpool.crew lists there is a Alex Sandell born 1878 Peterhead able seaman
This is a possibility he is on the 1901 census Birkenhead as a visitor with the Ledsom family occupation ordinary seaman place of birth now is Ireland ???

Thank you for looking. This is why I have asked about his father as Alexander says he is from Adelaide and he has name a daughter Adelaide, so thought as George doesn't show up in uk records he just might be from Australia.
Thanks again for information

Totally agree, only thing about Alexander that is true is his marriage to Miriam Eleanor Chesters.

Around 1896/7 there is this possibility for Alexander in Port Adelaide (original engagement: Liverpool!):

Thank you very much this does seem to be Alexander as he was a seaman. He really seems to have forgotten where he was born. Will have to keep looking in all the places he gives as his place of birth, would of thought someone with the name George Septumas Sandell would of be easy to find but he also is proving difficult to find.
Thanks again.
