Hi, I’m searching without success for the birth and parent details for CHARLOTTE GREEN born as per censuses in Alderholt. 1812 - 1814. Although I can trace her life through the censuses, moving from Alderholt to Fordingbridge, then onto Ringwood, Hampshire, I am unable to find her parents details.
Charlotte was described as unmarried in the censuses although she had a daughter called Sarah.
She worked as a dairymaid, female servant and lived for many years with a John Vincent who was the landlord of The Antelope Inn in Ringwood.
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

is the Jane Green in the same household as Charlotte in 1851 related? Possibly a younger sister.

Jane was baptised in Fordingbridge 16 Feb 1823 daughter of William & Mary Green of Alderholt.
Jane had a daughter Charlotte Eliza who was baptised in Fordingbridge 21 April 1861

1891 census Charlotte Eliza is in the same household as Charlotte & Sarah's Coombs family

There's also a George Green baptised in Fordingbridge in 1813, son of William and Mary. Residence Alderholt
The Fordingbridge records on Ancestry start in 1813, so Charlotte may be earlier?

Hi osprey
Yes it’s possible that this Jane could be a younger sister of Charlotte, especially as she has named her daughter Charlotte Eliza. I will try to research for the children of William & Mary from Alderholt.
Alderholt & Fordingbridge are neighbouring parishes and children could have been baptised in either.
I think William & Mary are a distinct possibility as parents of Charlotte, but strange how she was not baptised.
Thanks for your input.

Hi Mabel Bagshawe
Yes I will follow the William & Mary line and George, Charlotte & Jane could well be siblings.
Thanks

There's also James, baptised the same day as Jane

think it's more likely the baptism isn't online, rather than she wasn't baptised. There are some earlier possible baptisms to William & Mary in Cranborne - Mary Anne in 1805, Phoebe in 1806 & Louisa in 1808. There's also James on the same day as Jane. (red post snap!)
Possible marriage 27 Sept 1801 in Cranborne of William Green & Mary Hardeman.
I've been looking for Jane & Charlotte in 1861. The transcription has been mangled but census does read Green, not Fran ::)

I might have made a link between Charlotte and the other Greens
A week before her own marriage in 1871, Charlotte's daughter Sarah seems to witnesses the marriage of Ellen Andrews, 38, no father listed, to a John Kinsla. The signatures of witness and bride look identical to me
in 1881 Ellen Kinsla is widowed, and has daughter Alice Green b c1861 living with her
1871 Ellen is single and Alice and son Albert F (b c1859) are with her. All using the surname Andrews
1841 there's an Ellen Andrews aged 7 in Rockbourne, living with James Andrews a labourer and presumed wife Mary. Both are 50-55 and the oldest child at home is over 20, so it's possible that Ellen is their granddaughter, especially as she's listed at the end, out of age order, and there's another 7 yr old in the household.
I wonder whether Ellen is Martha/Jane's daughter and so George Green's stepdaugher. She might use his surname at times, which would explain Alice being called Green.

Hi Mabel Bagshawe
Thanks for todays message, I will need a little time to digest the details, a bit confusing, well done for working out the possible connection.
I appreciate you help

I'm also a bit confused.
Martha Andrews married James Green 6 June 1844
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGQG-HLMR
George Green married Sarah Stangimore 25 Dec 1835
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NKHC-VXW
birth regs for daughter Martha Ann has mmn Stangemore & son Isaac has mmn Strangemore
Found this Baptist birth record for Martha 14 June 1812, registered 1 Feb 1814, daughter of James & Mary Andrews. Register shows of the parish of Rockbourne. On the same day, sister Eliza born 7 Dec 1810.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FWJ5-G76
Possible marriage of parents 18 Dec 1809 in Rockbourne
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NKHC-NXT
I'm not finding obvious baptisms for the other children on 1841 census but they may have been non-conformist given the Baptist births for Eliza & Martha.
