Title: James Morrow/Sarah Jane McCord
Post by: mojo1970 on Thursday 05 October 23 16:48 BST (UK)
Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I have been trying to trace my Morrow roots and have found a marriage between a Charles Halmer and Sarah Leonora Morrow 29/10/1903, Kelvin, Glasgow. I am wondering is this Sarah Morrow (b1873, Belfast) daughter of my gg-grandparents James Morrow & Sarah Jane McCord. I know the ages are different to Sarah listed with her brother James (my great grandfather) and sister Annie on the 1901 census in Belfast. Just to let you know that the Annie listed on the 1901 census is actually a cousin of James and Sarah, not a sister. Kind regards Terry

Have you downloaded a copy of the 1903 marriage cert which will give you her parents names plus her mothers maiden name?

If she died in Scotland - downloading her death cert will give the same info.

Have you looked for them on the Scottish 1911 to establish if she was b Belfast?  Birth from SP

CHARLES WILLIAM HAHMER  mmn MORRON   1906  644 / 9 / 209  Kelvin

The Sarah Leonora Morrow (aged 26) who married 29th October 1903 parents were

James Morrow (deceased) occ Major 13th Hussars
Sarah Jane Morrow nee' McCord (deceased)

One witness to the marriage was an Anne/Anna Kathleen Morrow

Cannot find any further evidence of family following birth of son in 1906. Charles Halmer born c1879 senior was a Portrait Painter when he married, his parents  "look to be" *ergaard Halmer occ Portrait Painter, Elizabeth nee' Diene?

Hi,

Thank you for the info. I do have birth record of Sarah in 1873 Belfast to James Morrow and Sarah Jane McCord. It looks as though the emigrated to USA as they are on the USA 1920, 30, 40 census records. Sarah lived to 101 although her birth record shows 1873 with a sister Mary Eliza born in 1878. That made her 105 at the time of her death. Wow. It looks as though it is the same family. Thanks again.
