Title: Fleetwood heir hunting
Post by: Mariam82 on Tuesday 03 October 23 11:43 BST (UK)
Has anyone had contact with this company regarding potential inheritance ?   Im wary of potential scams and although this looks interesting I’m sceptical.    They must know from my interests on social media that I’m a family history researcher ?  Any opinions appreciated.

I've never been in contact with these types of firms.  No money worth mentioning in my family.

These firms will take a cut of whatever the amount is available, possibly at least 20%, maybe more.  Not really sure about that.

You also have to consider how many other putative inheritors there are and how big the estate is.

If you are contacted by any of these firms you would do well to find out who the deceased is and see if  you can find that person on the bona vacantia list.

This should say what the estate is worth.  I think you can apply yourself without going through one of these firms, but it is not an area with which I have any great knowledge.

Bona Vacantia no longer shows the value of an estate, they stopped that several years ago. Even the heir hunting firms are not told until a claim is made.

Fleetwood appear to be a genuine firm, search on Google for more information.

You need not the commit yourself to anything by answering their contact.
