Hi Pablo
There are a lot of different Colhoun families listed in your first post. You will find I have a previous post about some of them. I am related by DNA to the Colhoun family that includes Andrew Colhoun and Catherine Shields, though they themselves did not have any family. My DNA matches are in the families of Andrew's siblings, Samuel Colhoun, William Colhoun, Jane Colhoun and probably Isabella Colhoun (Draffin family of new York). Their father was Andrew Colhoun who died 1865 aged 85.
On the 3rd February, at his residence, Corncammon, Mr. Andrew Colhoun, aged 85 years.
Andrew's wife Ann died at the home of her oldest son Samuel at Tullyannan in 1867
December 22, at her son's residence, Tullyannan, Ann, relict of the late Mr. Andrew Colhoun, aged 79 years.
There is a lot of work being done in FTDNA Calhoun group to sort out the various lines of the Donegal Colhouns.
Because I was hunting for Andrew Colhoun's I can link together another group that belong to the other Andrew Colhoun who died 1865. This Andrew Colhoun of Pump St Londonderry left a Will and named his sisters Jane Colhoun who married Thomas Miles and Isabella Colhoun who married John Colhoun. Their father was William Colhoun of Lifford. Andrew was buried at Taughboyne but was the owner of the plot where Mary Colhoun, of Pump St, daughter of Owens Colhoun and wife Jane, was buried in 1863. Mary was 78 when she died on 1 jan 1863 and was born at Carnamoyle. Owens Colhoun of Corncammon, son of John Colhoun of Taughboyne who died 1755, purchased the property at Carnamoyle in the 1770s or 1780s. The lease passed to William Colhoun in 181s, then on to Andrew Colhoun in 1842.
-
John Colhoun who died 1755 and was the agent for Abercorne, was the father of John (Jack) Colhoun born c 1725 who married Jane Rankin (died 1799). Their son Thomas Colhoun of St Johnston (died 1821) was the solicitor who was the father of Samuel Colquhoun who married Jane Sproule, and of Isaac Colquhoun who married Jane Moore. Their brother John Colhoun married Sibella Ball. Lots more siblings in this family.

Imgnz, thank you for your added input.
Later on I will attempt to unite some families, one of which settled in Pennsylvania. But besides that, I am also interested in the fact Sir John Colquhoun's son, Robert, obtained 1,000 acres called Corkagh in the barony of Raphoe during the time of the plantation of Ulster. However, in 1662 these lands were held by Humphrey and Robert Galbraith. 700 of these acres, though, were later purchased back by another of Sir John Colquhoun's sons.

Hi
Brian Anton who has been deciphering the DNA for many of the Donegal Colhoun lines has started posting about the various records. I hope this links works. It deals with early records relating to John Colquhoun of Camstradden and his son Robert and the elusive Adam.

Thanks, Imgnz, for sending me that most interesting link. As the Macaulays of Ardincaple were related by marriage to the Colquhouns of Camstradden, the article was extremely interesting.

I have followed this Colhoun thread [and others] with great interest. In researching the McClures of Co. Donegal the name appears regularly usually in relation to a McClure spousal surname. I put a few threads collected over time that i think add to this post. And it any of the following names appear in your Colhoun research please drop me a note - Nesbit, Kee, Roulston, Thompson, Elliott, Buchanan, Gallagher, Wilson, Gregg, Caldwell, Fairman, Russell, McClintock, McElhinney, Smyth, Wilson, Houston, Dill and the Donaghmore Presbyterian Church.

Hi Jack and Pablo
Yes many of thise names you list Jack are connected to the Colhouns that are of interest to me. Starting with John Colhoun of Taughboyne who died 1755 this is his tombstone.
Taughboyne Graveyard
Here lieth the body of Mary Colhoun
Alias Mary Owen who died ye. 9th day of September 1741 aged 70{born 1671}
Also the body of John Colhoun {her husband}who died the 17th day of March 1743 aged 78 {born1673}
Also the body of Mary Colhoun alias
Nesbitt who died the 17th day ***** 1743 aged 38
Here lyeth the body of Mr John Colhoun who departed this life
The 21st April 1755 aged 55 or 85 years {illegible} years
So it appears John was the son of John Colhoun snr and Mary Owens. From John Colhoun jnrs Will it appears that John's son Owens was named after his mother's family.
Next it would seem that John's children (Jack, Andrew, William, Owens and Isabella) were all children of his frist wife Mary nee Nesbitt who died 1743. John;s 2nd wife Elizabeth is not listed on this tombstone.
John names his children in his Will and names his wife Elizabeth and Tristram Cary as executors. Tristram Cary was also the father-in-law of John's son William Colhoun.
Which brings me to the ship Hannah which arrived in Philadelphia Pennylvania on 4 Nov 1807. On which were several Colhoon families including a Tristram Colhoon and a Nesbitt Colhooon. Both unusual names.
A Tristram Colhoun of Taughboyne married a Mary Paterson of Taughboyne at Raphoe on 28 Feb 1778.
A William Colhoun of Taughboyne married a McAusland of Taughboyne at Raphoe on the 26 Dec 1780.
Some of the land at Corncammon that John Colhoun left to his sons Jack and William passed to Jack's son John Cohoun ( surgeon and apothecary) who married Elizabeth Fivey in 1787.

Memorial of lease and release (marriage settlement) dated 29th Sep 1787 between John Colhown [Colhoun] of the city of Londonderry, surgeon and apothecary, on the 1st part; Hugh Woodney [?] and James Cully both of Newry, Co Down, Gents on the 2nd; John Fivey and Elizabeth Fivey spinster, daughter of said John, on the 3rd part. Marriage intended between John Colhown and Elizabeth Fivey. In consideration of £300, John Colhown granted to Hugh Woodney and James Culley half of the townland of Corncamon, Barony of Raphoe, Co Donegal. John Fivey granted to Hugh Woodney and James Culley the part lands of Greenan near Loughbrickland, Co Down, which he was then intitled to under the will of his father Thomas Fivey deceased, and also the part of Greenan lately purchased by him from his daughter to the said Elizabeth Fivey for the residue of a term of 2000 years. Witnessed by Cathe [?] Toubert of Canal St, Newry, widow, and Danl Brown of Newry, attorney.
John Colhoun son of Jack, died 1796 and Mary Gallagher, widow of William Gallagher had claim on the estate. Probably related to this deed. (Deeds courtesy of Matthew Gilbert aka Gilby).
Book 396 / Page 162 / Number 260736
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSJW-5PWF?i=90&cat=185720
Memorial of a mortgage dated May 1787 between John Colhown [Colhoun] of Corncammon, Co Donegal, gent, on the 1st part; William Gallagher of Ruskey, Co Donegal, farmer, on the second. Whereby John Colhoun granted to Gallagher the moiety of Corncammon as theretofore was in the occupation of John Colhoun deceased and his undertenants, and now of the said John Colhoun. The moiety being the north side of the townland of Corncammon, Barony of Raphoe, Co Donegal. William Gallagher to hold with all rights, subject to an annuity of £20/pa, plus a clause of redemption upon payment of a certain sum. Deed and memorial witnessed by Peter McDonagh, not. pub., and Peter McDonagh junior, both of the City of Londonderry.
A descandant of John Fivey Colhoun has had a yDNA test and I am hoping that sometime soon, a descendant of William Colhoun and Elizabeth Roulston of Corncammon will also get a yDNA test done and thereby make or disprove a connection between William's father, Andrew Colhoun of Corncammon (died 1865) and the family of John Colhoun of Taughboyne.

Other members of this family were Hanna Conyngham who m. the Rev. Oliver MacCausland and Catherine Conyngham who married Col. Sir David Ross. I am not sure yet, however, where they fit into the family's tree. Also, please not question marks above where I may have doubts.
Back in Scotland let's not forget that Sir Aula(y) McAulay of Ardincaple was the Duke of Lennox's agent for the Lord's lands in Ireland; Sir Aulay's first wife was Joanne Cunningham, dau of Cuthbert, and his second wife was Margaret Crawford of Kilbirnie, the widow of James Galbraith.

Hi, I wonder if you have any further information on the Appin branch of this family. In a graveyard in Appin, Argyll there is a fallen and partly buried slate stone, in three pieces, but face up which intrigues me. It is in a section of this graveyard where I had expected to find an ancestor of another name.
"This stone is placed here for ... memory of John Colchoun, resident in Airds .. Kintyre, his house 1797"
Appin is many miles from the Kintyre peninsula although, by sea, not difficult I would guess.
Any information would be appreciated.
