Post by: rachtravem on Sunday 24 September 23 11:22 BST (UK)
hi all
Am looking for information on William Gilbert's parents.
William was born approx 1806 and passed between 1844 and 1850. he was mentioned in the 1841 Census but not in the 1851. His last child was born in 1844. He worked as a Blacksmith in Carbus, Uny Lelant (1841 Census)
28 Dec 1827 Married Mary Ann Rickard born 1806, passed 1882. Parents John Rickard and Nancy Stone.
Children include Emily, William, Elizabeth, Mary, Llewllyn, Slanwelling, and Matilda Ann. Births were registered St Columbus, Gwithian and Carbus.
Have much info on William but not on his parents.

Possible death, so maybe born about 1795.

The 1841 census, as mentioned, may help?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQYB-DDY

Ages were rounded down to nearest 5 in 1841 and not always accurate.

Hi
He married as Jilbert and his daughter Emily was also baptised as that.
So I'd take a look at William and Elizabet Jilbert/Gilbert of Colan
Children
Dinah 1771
Anne 1773
Elizabeth 1775
Samuel 1779
William 1781
Mary 1784
Grace 1787
Joshua 1789
Joel 1792

It looks like he came from somewhere near Newquay
