I have a death certificate where the causes of death were:
 1. puerperal eclampsia and
 2. operation 25 caesarian section

Could anybody help with item 2 please.  Does it mean that the operation was done at 25 weeks of pregnancy?

 Thanks
-
				What year was this?

Can you post a snippet for us to see?

I believe  puerperal eclampsia tends to occur after the 20th week of  Pregnancy, so that would explain the 25 week  C- section.

The year was 1918 and the snippet is attached

25 is a numbered correction ( nothing to do with the actual cause). I suspect the words "twenty five" are written in the margin ?

1 is the actual cause of death - anything listed under 2 (the caesarean) is defined as a

"condition contributing to the death but not related to the disease or condition causing it"

				Thanks

Yes twenty five is written in the margin.

 Appreciate your help

The crossed out word looks like a first attempt at spelling caesarian.
