Newish to English records.
I’ve just downloaded a birth certificate in 1897, thanks to the reduced digital fee.
Address given as 8 Montreal Road, Chadwell St Mary.
The father was a marine engineer so presumably working in the docks. The family was here for only a short period of time, the only one of eleven born in England.
Does anyone know of any more information about this address in 1897, living conditions, type of accommodation etc.

If you want to locate the address on the 1901 census the reference is
RG13/ 1661 folio 100 page 38
The occupants are Charlotte Macey a widow with her children Victor 16 and Alphonse 14 plus Boarders

Thanks for this. I believe the family were only there for a brief period of time.
It may well be that they were boarders, family name Thomson.

They were not there in 1901 :)

Thanks for this

Although Montreal Road shows under the district of Chadwell St Mary it is in Tilbury.
On the attached link if you just below the T in the Tilbury sign you will see it.
