My gx5-grandfather, William EVANS, was chr. 6th May 1755 in Combe Florey, mother Ann Evans, father not listed. William married Elizabeth (Betty) CHORL(E)Y on 25th September 1780 at Kingston St Mary, and the family rolls on from there.
However, Ann Evans remains a mystery. The obvious thought is that she was a single woman but I can find nothing about her. There are two marriages, both in Taunton, in later years, one in 1760 to Joseph BRUFORD and another in 1770 to Nicholas CLARK but I place no faith in either of them. I haven't found any other children born to Ann.
I've long been inclined to put this lady away in the Too Hard Basket but every so often I look at her entry and wonder about her. Does anyone have any suggestions about proceeding further?

That's food for thought! I shall have to think it through. Don't you wish they'd started the census earlier? Thank you, Trish.

Your welcome.
I wish I could have been of more help.
