Hello All,
I have discovered that an ancestor was running a pub called The Robin Hood Inn at Hepston, Yorkshire on the 1939 register. I have looked at maps around the area and found two pubs of that name, but they are both further out of where I think Hepston is/was. The ones I see are in Hebden, is this the same place due to the boundary being extended? I'm a little confused and would appreciate any help in locating the Robin Hood Inn that was in Hepston. Any info welcome, thank you,
Mary

Can’t find anywhere called Hepston - only Heptonstall
Who is the ancestor you have found
-
Can you post a link to the relevant page of the 1939 register please?
-
I think it is Hebden Bridge - Hepton is the RD mentioned on the transcript

Valentine Simpson

So Hepton - not Hepston?
Seems to be 26 Keighley Rd looking at the other entries

I popped "Hepton" on the Borough/District field and "Robin Hood" in Optional Keywords which delivered Valentine Simpson, Keighley Rd

It's still there, in Keighley Road, Pecket Well, Hebden Bridge

The licence for the Robin Hood Inn, Pecket Well was permanently transferred to Valentine George Simpson March 1933 (Todmorden Advertiser and Hebden Bridge Newsletter).

Wow! Thank you so much you lovely people, I'm very grateful for all of that info, another mystery solved! :)
Thanks again

Heptonstall is partly right but was a 1/4 of Hepton along with Blackshaw Erringden
and Wadsworth

I think the s in Hepton was local slang of Hepton - Like some people say Prostrate for Prostate
