In response to Carol's request for work, here is the only photograph my mother had of her father. He was a fireman on ships, I think the background looks like it could have been taken on a ship, not sure. Anyway, just a light clean would be lovely. I like old photographs to look old, not like they were taken yesterday, or too fake looking (with no offense intended, everyone has different tastes).
Many thanks in advance.

It does look like he could on a ship doesn't it. I agree with your sentiments, there are many AI apps that search the internet for matching facial features that turn the subjects into modern, plastic looking images. I will do this one too and I'm sure you will get others. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all - Loord and japeflakes, and Peter - really beautiful work. Becoming spoilt for choice now. I really don't know how you all work your magic. Thank you all for keeping to the feel of the original.

One from me, regards, John.

Thanks John, I really appreciate everyone's work. :)

I think this one is very good Peter - and quite accurate. I do not believe any of that stuff in the back ground is real image detail. Ironically, they look like ship masts - but I believe they are only image deterioration and stains. Good job!

Thanks, jmagarac. :)

Couldn't agree more jmagarac, Peter always does such beautiful work. :D
As mentioned before, I'm so grateful to everyone who gives their time freely.

Thanks, maddys. :)

Most stokers/firemen that worked in the engine room used to wear cloths/neckerchiefs around their necks because of the heat, I think he was aboard ship when this was taken.

Thank you so much PatBot, that's a lovely restore, beautifully done. And thank you for the insight about the neckerchief, I have often wondered what significance it may have had. :D
