Title: EARL SHILTON families
Post by: FULOFLOVE on Monday 24 July 23 16:14 BST (UK)
Books in the Leicestershire archaeogical series suggest there were only ten families in Earl Shilton in Elizabethan times - but no source is cited. I'm guessing it would be Lay Subsidies. The next question is the family names of those 10.

Anyone have knowledge of this?

Hi
Have you looked at the Leicestershire Medieval Villages Notes CD it has notes for Earl Shilton some from 1284 and also lists Lay subsidy 1571 & 1611 also Hearth Tax 1663.
What name are you looking for

Fullilove and its variations..... Fuloflove is common. Other early places where they might be are Croft, Narborough, Whitwick and Loughborough. There is mention of Richard Fullalove as steward of a hermitage in 1556, but it is not clear where that is. Whitwick maybe...... Thanks so much for your help., Roger Fullilove too

Hi thx for that. I have done the Parish Registers (and BTs) for each of the places I mentioned.... indeed I would say "in depth", back in the days when they let us morals play with the original tome... say c1978..... I am now looking for info from unpublished sources, eg lay subsidies, etc.

As an aside, I'd be intrested to hear your thoughts on a 1501 register for Earl Shiltom clearly referenced by the clerk in a later register as having existed for 1501-51,,,,, and lent to the manor court.....but never seen by me
