Title: workplace accidents during WW2?

Were workplace accidents/deaths something that were tracked during this time period? Is there a separate database perhaps that recorded them? I have a nickname first name, but nothing else to go off of. Am trying to find someone. Thanks!

No idea. I just have an old letter that mentions a fiancé dying from a workplace accident during WW2. I’m assuming maybe was in a factory of some sort, but yeah I don’t have any other information unfortunately.

Good read, thank you! Yeah I’m not sure what she did. That or in a factory…etc. Based on the letter I know her name was probably Katherine (she’s referred to as Kay), I know she died in 1942 because the letter was written in December of 1942, and probably a few weeks or months prior seeing as news of the death would have had to get from Canada to Scotland. I know it was some sort of workplace accident as cause of death. She was probably born between 1905 - 1920ish (but most likely closer to 1910-1915).

Location: Canada, most likely New Brunswick or nearby

I found a few documents fitting that criteria, but the cause of death are all medical related which doesn’t fit.

If you believe that the event occurred in New Brunswick, you should try searching the provincial vital statistics database.

You may also be able to find something in a newspaper. I know MyHeritage has historical Canadian newspapers as well as several other sites such as ProQuest (not sure this site has New Brunswick papers but they do have many others).

Thank you I’ll try MyHeritage! Unfortunately you need to know the last name to search the NB database.
