Hi,
I’d appreciate any tips to help be find the full address of a cafe in Fashion Street E1 in 1951 (I’m not sure how long before or after this date it existed).
My great grandfather owned a cafe here apparently called Monty’s. By coincidence I walk down this street on a regular basis and I’d love to know which shop was his.
The full row of shops still exists. My grandmother is still with us and remembers it, but can’t remember which one.
I’ve done a Google search and also looked for photos. I’ve also completed a search on Ancestry.
This is a last resort. I guess it’s very possible that’s just what people called it, and it may have a different name!
Monty is actually Myer Cohen born 24th December 1900.
Thanks in advance.

The 1938 PO Directory lists Monty Cohen, refreshment rooms, at 45a Fashion Street.
In 1934 the proprietor was Jack Rans so presumably Monty started there between 1934 and 1938.

By 1940 he was at 35 Fashion Street (moved or renumbered?)

There was a renumbering sometime between 1937/8 and September 1939 (the 1939 register has the new numbering).
It was renumbered from the opposite end. 45a became 35. I doubt it's been renumbered since, so Monty's cafe would be the present day number 35.
