I'm trying to find the family of William Holman (b:about 1839 Truro, Cornwall, England) who was a miner at Hill End, NSW, Australia. His parents are said to be John Holman & Mary Holman (maiden name) but I can't find a birth/baptism record for William or a marriage for his parents. Nor can I find the family on the 1841 census. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Shaz

Thanks, Ian, but William is the son of John & Mary Holman...he married in Australia in 1869. I thought I'd find them on the 1841 census, but no luck there, and I don't have access to the 1851 census or OPR for a birth around 1837. The hunt continues...

Hi Sharyn,
Just wondering what you have from Oz on this chap. Where have the parents names, pob and dob come from? He lived in NSW - do you have his NSW certificates? NSW certs can be very helpful. ;)
I am not seeing anything given the current information. Just wondering what you have from Oz which my help locate him in Cornwall. Do you have his immigration records - Did he travel with family? What records of age do you have - Are they consistant?
Cheers............Kris :D

Hi Kris,
The info comes fron William's second marriage cert. (no parental details on first one) and his death certificate. Both state he was born in Truro, Cornwall and give the parents' names John Holman & Mary Holman (maiden name). He was 49 when he remarried in 1888 and 63 when he died in 1894.
I haven't been able to locate him in NSW Immigration records, but I've just noticed he spent some time in Victoria (he was a miner) so perhaps he went there first. I'll see what I can find.
Thanks.
