Grace Eliza went to Australia and married Frederic Royston Nicholson. Then moved to New Zealand where her children were born. Other sites have a few sketchy details but nothing I can verify so far.
She was born about 1893 in probably Essex and died in 1979 in Hamilton NZ. Any help or advice on how to obtain her death certificate or her parentage would be really appreciated.

The whole family left London in 1912, the ships destination was New Zealand.
Just to clarify the above .... the FLATMAN family were destined to leave the ship ("Mamari") at Sydney, Australia, (their place of "intended future residence" - as recorded on the passenger list). :)
"Mamari" - departed London - 9 May 1912 - arrived Sydney (via Capetown) about 18 June 1912, where it disembarked passengers, before going on to New Zealand.
Link to ships' voyage (from a NZ newspaper) >

FLATMAN family aboard "Mamari" (for NSW, Australia) >
James - 44 - farmer / Mrs. FLATMAN - 44 / their children -- Herbert - 20 / Grace - 18 / George - 16 / Rose - 14 / Richard - 12 / May * - 9 :
[Note: * May Edith FLATMAN b. England 1903 so not included in the 1901 census link given here earlier.]

FLATMAN - James - d. 18 May 1931

Also, if you have access to ancestry.com (either by subscription - or often available at larger libraries -- there a numerous records for the wider FLATMAN family.)

Added : Correction > * Just spotted that Emily's date of death was recorded in newspapers as "26 June 1940" (rather than "25 June" - which was given in another "record". That record (for cemetery), also shows she was buried as "Emily Esther FLATMAN" :

Hi gingerbit ... depending on just what information you are wanting for family FLATMAN, the "Trove" (Australia) website is helpful for newspaper articles, family notices, etc. etc.

And for (Australian) funeral/death notices of later years, try the RYERSON index :

Hi gingerbit
Again, if you have access to ancestry.com - there are around 22 "trees" for James FLATMAN (died Australia) / Emily BUTLER on that site.
[Some "trees" have wrong birth surname for Emily ... others have "collected" enormous amounts of "names" ;D ... but plenty to choose from otherwise. ]

I am bowled over with the amount of help and information you have all given me for the Flatman family.
This will keep me busy building up the family tree on this cold and wet Cape Town morning..
So thank you very much to Rosie99, Minnihaha and Lucy2 :-* :-* :-*

I see it's just over a month since so much help came to me for Grace and I just want to say that in that time I have found amazing families, some details going back over two hundred years and best of all came across another first cousin who was also looking for the same families.
So thank you again for all the advice and help.
;D ;D ;D ;D
