I have a Henry Stilz who in 1919 changed his surname by deed poll to Stiles ( Henry was born in London). He was married and had 4 children under 10. Would his wife also have to change her name by deed poll or did she automatically as Henry's wife become Stiles? and what about his children?
I found a notice about Henry changing his name in The London Gazette but although I can see other members of the family I can't see his wife.
thanks for any help

There's never been a requirement for a deed poll - you can simply call yourself whatever you wish at least in England. So the family may not have bothered with the bureaucracy and you might be searching for something that doesn't exist!
