I'm looking for any info on a Fred Rowntree, born 1849 (june qtr) in Bradford.
As i found out yesterday though, Rowntree may be spelled Roundtree (a problem that I'm still having these days).
Thanks

Bradford is a huge area to search is there anyway you can pin it down to a District?
I have the 1861 Census and would be more than willing to do a look up for you but i dont have a name index, so a district or better still an address would be very very helpful
-
I'm at work at the moment, when I get home I'll see if I have any other info.
The only thing I can tell you before I get home is that when he got married and had a family (c1869) I think he was living in bowling. Not 100% sure about this though.
-
The earliest info i have is from the 1881 census where the family are living in North Bierley. I know that they moved to Bowling after that, so Bowling is probably a no go.
This is all I know, the birth register only says Bradford and I haven't looked at the 1871 census yet.
-
IT's a bit late now...but will check through the census tomorrow for you.
-
Nice one!!!
-
I've gone through the whole of North Bierley and nothing i,m afraid. If you could get someone to check the 1871 and maybe get a district from that i'd be happy to re look for you.
Sorry
Fitty

Hi
I've just joined Roots, and have been reading the messages regarding the Rowntree family of Bradford. This is 'my' family, and I'd be delighted to swap notes within others doing the same research.
Tom Rowntree (b. Bfd 1853) is my descendant. He is brother to Fred, Abraham Hopkinson, Albert Sager, Emma Jane, Ann and Joe. Their parents are William Rowntree (b. 1815 Reeth) and Hannah Hopkinson (b. 1825 Tong) (I've got a bit of info on the Hopkinson line). This was Williams second marriage, his first wife, Margaret Kennedy, died. William's parents are Thomas Rowntree (c. 1771 Leyburn) and Ann (nee Stevenson?) (c. 1791 Leyburn). Possibly married 7 August 1809 Grinton (according to IGI).
Would love to hear from anyone who can fill in some of my gaps!!
