Good morning
Could anybody see a marriage for the above people?
They have their children in the parish of Rathmoon Baltinglass co Wicklow
I have the birth of some of some of their children around 1848, 1844, 1846, 1841all in the same area
We ended up O’Briens but there shown as Brien on records
Thank you

Rathmoon is a townland
https://www.townlands.ie/wicklow/upper-talbotstown/baltinglass/baltinglass/rathmoon/
It’s in the Civil parish of Baltinglass
The Church of Ireland Parish of Baltinglass
And the Roman Catholic Parish of Baltinglass
Assuming with the surname Brian your family were RC you can look at the RC parish registers on NLI https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0691
It’s fairly standard for the O to be missing on surnames until the late 19th early 20th centuries.

Thanks for the reply Sinann
I did not know about the O being added I must research that
I have found us as Byrnes as well
I have been in the NLI I can’t see the marriage that’s not to say it’s not there
Not always easy to read

You mention a child born 1841 - what name is that?
I can see Michael baptised 9th April 1842 to Ned and Betty Keiney?

A sponsor is William Brien - perhaps a brother to Edward?
When the children marry, do they give an occupation for Edward?

Hello Heywood
I have Edward Brien born 18th of April 1848. I have a born the 25th of January at 1846. I have aborn 18th of April 1848. I have a born the 25th of January at 1846 I have Maria born the 24th of January 1841, and John born in 1844, all in the same area. .
When John Marty’s in Tipperary, he’s in the army from memory, the 57th Regiment, I think

In these baptism records, the father is always Edward, but the mother is known as ELIZA and Betty Betty for Annie Brien born 1846
It really helps as Baltinglass mentioned all the time, but I can’t find the marriage for Edward and ELIZA for John, the informants of John Kerney and Catherine Kerney of course, I’d like these to be Eliza s parents lol

Marriages usually take place in the brides parish, perhaps Elizabeth was from a neighbouring parish.

Sinann
There lies the problem
plus I guess I’m lucky finding there children records considering the 1800 s
-
Are there any Kerney (variations) as sponsors?
Did the family stay in the same area?
Griffiths Valuation (abt 1854) shows a William Bryan in Rathmoon.
https://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=nameSearch
There is a Thomas Kearney in Irongrange Lower, in the same parish but the name has various spellings in your records.

For John born 1844 sponsors are John Kerney and Catherine Kerney but I was unsure if parents were allowed to be informants what ever that means
Thanks for info re William and Thomas
I guess with the naming system I could try and give Eliza’s mother the name of Anne but I’m unsure if she is the first child born 1841

For Maria born 1841 one of her informants was a Mary Brian
