Title: Apprentice record for Hairdresser in 1841
Post by: pjg6666 on Friday 09 June 23 19:39 BST (UK)
I have an ancestor who was a Hairdresser on the census records in 1841 and in  the following census. He was born in 1806 in Islington London Middlesex. His name was  Henry Foster . Would there be any records of him serving as an Apprentice. The same occupation is given on his sons marriage certificate. Thank you Pam

I have my Great Grandfather's Hairdressing indenture from 1882 - he was deserted as a child so was brought up in a Pauper school and the indenture was raised by the Guardians.  I also have my Granduncle's apprenticeship - he was also brought up in care so his was raised by the Guardians too.  I got copies from the London Metropolitan Archives so your first step may be contacting them to see if they know if records are kept.  You can email them at asklma@londonmetarchives.libanswers.com  They charge quite a lot to do a search but if they have records you can go to the Archives and check them yourselves.  Good Luck!
