Hi Ian. I know it is only November but I am sending you a Christmas list. My ancestry evolves around Dewsbury, Batley and Heckmondwike but unless burials occurred in a Churchyard information is hard to obtain when it involes a municiple cemetery, so I do hope perhaps you can help me out. I have a list of a number of individuals I am interested in.
BATLEY BURIALS.
1) BRAMWELL HALL, Died March 26, 1964.
2) NELLIE WARD, Died March 25, 1955. Her husband JOSHUA WARD, Died April 5, 1967.
HECKMONDWIKE BURIAL
1) ERNEST SAVILLE, Died Sept qtr 1911 (cannot be more specific) aged 1
Any information would be most appreciated
Kind Regards, Andrew.

Hi Andrew here's your Christmas list :)
Bramwell Hall must be in the Unconsecrated section as I have the records for the Consecrated up to 1967 and he's not in there.
Likewise for Nellie Ward and her husband. My Unconsecrated records only go up to 1945 for now (I'm trying to get hold of them)
Ernest Saville isn't in the Consecrated of Heckmondwike and the Unconsecrated only goes up to 6th September 1911 so it's possible he's in the record not available for the remaining quarter.
Sorry I can't be of more help with my spreadsheets ! you could do a lot worse than getting in touch with Roger Jenkinson of Bleak House Family History he has the records your looking for at Batley and has helped me out no end... drop him a line at:
batleycemetery@live.co.uk
good luck
regards Ian

Hi Iasquith
Kirklees Council cemeteries.
In your offer to look up burial info: to help or advise to add further or beyond to your records for Batley, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike grave look up that you don't have.
(They say)
"We can search for a grave with up to 3 names. Prior to 1995 our computerised records are minimal and we usually do a manual search of the registers. Most of our older records are available to view on microfiche by contacting the Kirklees Local Studies Library."

--------------------
Kirklees Bereavement services at Huddersfield crematorium administration Fixby Huddersfield hold most council records, they are free to do a search in person at the crematorium or a charge on line search. (see link below)

Thanks for the additional resources Dave.
It's also worth mentioning that recently I found a burial plot at Birstall Churchyard which I'd been looking for a long time. West Yorkshire Archives at Wakefield had the burial on their records along with a plot number and plot plan.
-
York Borthwick archives held in the university library have some burial records for West Yorkshire burial grounds as well. :)

Great thanks👍

Hello,
Just wondering if there might be a William Blakey Stocks buried in Dewsbury, he died on 5/5/1889.
Thanks in advance.
-
Snowyhog
Yes, William was interred 7 5 1889 aged 70 years, machine maker, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury
in the consecrated section plot B 341.
There are 3 more people buried in that plot:
Mary Stocks interred 30 9 1890 aged 62 years, widow of John Stocks 116, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury.
Jeanette Stocks interred 12 12 1895, aged 4 years daughter of John Stocks 123, Huddersfield Road Dewsbury.
John Stocks interred 2 12 1900 aged 36 years machine maker Station Road Chickenley
regards Ian

Hello Ian,
Thank you for your reply and help.
Two questions, 1) any chance the Mary mentioned was the wife of William Blakey and not James Stocks?
2) do you have any other Mary Stocks there, say before 1861?
Thanks again.
-
Snowyhog
no the earliest burial was 1863 for 'Stocks' but doesn't seem to be related to your William.
double checked the original for Mary Stocks and it defo is 'relict John Stocks'
she is not in Batley either, suppose could have married again ?
Ian
-
Could "relict" mean relative or related to I wonder. I will order the cert today.
-
It usually means widow
-
Mary Stocks aged 62, died 28th September 1890, widow of William Blakey Stocks, died at 116, Huddersfield Road, Dewsbury. Informant was Son, John Stocks address was Thornhill Road, Dewsbury.
-
William Blakey Stocks was married to two ladies, both called Mary. Mary no2 is buried in Dewsbury. I meant to ask is there a headstone?
-
Ah so the burial record should have said widow of William Blakey Stocks and instead they recorded her son as husband !
I didn't take any photos the last time I was at Dewsbury of that section and there aren't any that match on 'find a grave' I guess you'd have to go to look if you can.
The section you need is the entrance from Crow's nest park to the left of the derelict chapel on your left.
If you can't get there I can have a look in October only for you
