Title: Dating - Thomson - Thornhill, Scotland
Post by: Darren on Thursday 01 June 23 08:10 BST (UK)
Hi
I have this gentleman as James Thomson b. 1886 - d. 1917, but I believe that to be incorrect (looks too old), possibly a sibling, maybe Robert Black Thomson b. 1880 - d. 1937

Can anyone please help identify the uniform or date, so I can place the photo with the right man?
Thank you,
Darren

I'll have a go. Royal Navy, Bicorn hat was worn up until the first World War. First medal appears to be the Distinguished Service cross, [Late Conspicuous Service Cross]. Instituted by King Edward in 1901.
