Hi All,
Hoping someone can help, If someone was born in Tamlaght, Rasharkin around 1820 and onwards, where would they have been baptised. they were Roman Catholic.
-
The RC parish for Tamlaght would be Rasharkin but unfortunately they have no records before 1848.

Hi Elwyn, yes I saw that and St Mary's church was founded in 1845. I wondered where else someone might have been baptised.

They’d likely have been baptised in Rasharkin, just no records were kept. That was pretty common in rural Ireland at that time. The Ordnance Survey memoirs for 1833 record that there was a priest in Rasharkin with 2944 RC parishioners, but as I say, he didn’t keep any records (or none that survived).
A small part of the 1851 census of Rasharkin has survived. Have you checked it for your family?
